Spam volume keeps rising. Junk e-mail now accounts for 38 percent of the 31 billion e-mails sent each day in North America, according to IDC. [CNET News.com]
Someone must not be getting very much spam if only 38% of the email in a day is spam. I just ran the stats on my email since the first of the year. 91% of the messages were spam, and I am averaging about 250 spam messages a day.
While things have improved in the last thee months (80% of the messages are spam and 140 spam messages per day) since I stopped receiving everything send to my domain, the tide is beginning to rise again. More disturbing, the number of spam that makes it through the filters and into my inbox is rising.
I get the feeling that the spammers have figured out the latest filtering technology and are starting to win the battle again. I also don't see our current laws having any affect.
