Russ Lipton Documents Radio simplex veri sigillum From the Mailbag: "You asked about comments/concerns on your documentation process. The part of Radio I struggle with (and have been surprised not to find more info on) is altering the templates and understanding on more than a basic level how the macros, directives, links and references work; manually adding Userland image marcos make designing a new template for your site an incredible chore. In fact, I'd love to see a template designer program that helps with the transistion of normal html pages to radio templates, but then again, I don't have the time to try and write such a thing (and can only do very rudimentary programming anyway)." I don't expect Userland to pause in its mad dash towards the big stuff, nor do I want them to. I do believe your wish signals a real revenue opportunity for programmers and designers in the Userland community, not only for tools but as a foundation for consulting. (Speaking of design, we need a dozen Bryan Bells and hundreds of attractive themes. I hear regular complaints from folks who don't feel their Radio sites look nice but don't have the skills to do anything about it themselves). Advance tease: time-permitting, I am hoping to document a theme for end-users just completed by a Radio designer. As has been the case here, it will be a 30,000 foot flyby of templates. Until I have scanned the entire Radio continent, I won't be parachuting down into the details. Sigh. feedback: 10:34:00 AMBootstrapping or Beta? With RCS ready to ship later today, this is a superb moment to congratulate some hard-working guys and clear up any confusion about the process. feedback: 9:25:59 AM
