A few days ago, Miss X asked how I get my negatives and slides scanned to put online. The answer is: very poorly. I own a crappy scanner, that gives crappy results. The image above, for example, is from a beautifully saturated and very sharp 35 MM slide, originally shot on Fuji Velvia. The scan, though, looks like a oddly colored, fuzzy, excuse for a photo.
The trick to getting good scans, I think, it to invest hundreds or thousands of dollars in a dedicated slide scanner, or better yet, pay the experts at your local pro photo lab to do it for a few bucks a pop. 11:52:34 PM
