Blog This: As the digital revolution enters a new phase, one based on diminished expectations and dwindling corporate investment, grass-roots intermediaries may have a moment to redefine the public perception of new media and to expand their influence.
sensing/knowing that the shift is coming i'm here practicing blogging. if there was no sea-change coming i would not care to be in any top 100 list! |

AlterSlash ~ the unofficial SlashDot digest: " AlterSlash ~ the unofficial SlashDot digest."
this site pulls the gems out from the garbage and it tells you how much noise a topic had. it inherits the troubles moderation has but presents the stories in a much more usable way. heads up! |

lunch time update on broken cloud stats:
the 4th round of email netted: "i'm passing the problem on to.."
i so enjoyed catching the wave of traffic that drove me up to #31 in the top 100 listing. since my trial expired one month after the release - on the 12th - i've fallen to #38 and i hate it. there seems to be nothing i can do. my email contact promises to track the problem - but the weekend is just hours away.
3 days of no cloud logging == 10% of the life-time of the log. getting this solved on monday means 20%.
should i script myself back to the count my sonic log tells me? should userland pro-rate my counter? am i the only one who changed their email address during the trial period? does anyone else have this experience? comments please. |

FOXNews.com: " Activists Win New Rules Requiring Handicapped-Accessible Private Homes"
its always easy to spend other people's money.. i think of you, nancy, and how you get around and how you use machines - almost every day.
but forcing codes on people instead of forcing new subject to be included in govt sponsored pre-building education courses - through libraries perhaps - is more of the same nonsense that drives so many people into dehumanizing libertarian -dusty-book- ideas. why? |

Please take a look at " The Three Percent".
I was laughing to myself about a statement i read andersH make regarding how difficult it is to learn a new programming language relative to the challenges of learning the api, the way in which you use the language to do something with the system in which its programs will be used. he said its 3% of the work to learn the language, and 97% of the work to understand the api.
What tickled my funny bone was that i had three brilliant lists of words from a friend, english words, words that took me excuciating effort over many years before i could properly use them.
These lists to me are andersH's 3% as applied to english. They enables access to the 97% we take for granted.. It made me happy that i can use them mostly properly today, sad because there are not all that many smart and technically savy people in my life who share that facility.
I want more friends who have this down.. and more clients willing to have their eyes opened to what happens when you get this. |
