Borland's dot net

Borland Will Push .NET Out Of Windows "Over time, Windows will probably be superseded by .NET, but for now you will need both.”

Borland brings .Net into view: During the second half of the year, Borland will release versions of Borland Delphi, Borland C++ Builder and other development products that will be capable of building .Net applications for Intel-based systems, the company said in this statement Tuesday:

Borland .NET Strategy: "The Borland strategy for the Microsoft .NET platform features ..blah blah blah.. During the second half of 2002, Borland plans to release development products that support the .NET platform optimized on Intel® Architecture."

anti feature implementation rant
 Asc Mo
With all the hubbub about comments in Radio, i just want to say that the way the feature was implemented and added appears to me to (a) make the product weaker - even though there are some customizations these were added 'to the pool' and not at an appropriate outline level that would let you keep them together. they code contained the structure of the result. that's bad. (b) you can't just add string replacement macros like that! this looked like 100% fluff written the way it was written because that was the only way to hack-it-in without facing the music lurking in the items render proc. (c) left my customer service issue unanswered till i overwrote email and called people.

i suggested ways of fixing render almost four weeks ago, have since worked out a method for myself to cleanly add new parameterizable customizable string-replacement macros.. i email and post about it.. there's noone home it seems and if everyone else cheers these bad practices there are going to get more like it. that's bad!  (trust me! lol, i dig the render codde.)

Ten Questions the Media Can't Answer
 Asc Mo
Plastic is pointing to a Village Voice piece about the Top Ten Questions the Media Can't Answer. Its a real eye opener to read this then flip on CNN or FOX News and listen to the verbal diarrhea. Fun for the whole family. [Adam Curry: CurryDotCom]

Morality is quite possibly the scourge of mankind
 Asc Mo
Ethics is a Process. Morality is quite possibly the scourge of mankind. [kuro5hin.org]

projection and fear are the scourge..  but heck morality is just a derivative *dont you get that jorn?*...  the nutshell...  ethics as a process leads to honest truth and transparency..  morals to 'The Truth' and in the end, lonelyness amidst power over others.

Karma: allowing you to establish and maintain a public reputation.
 Asc Mo
What goes around. ABC.net: Karma works [via WebWord] Game theory experiments in how to minimize the tragedy of the commons by making the history of your actions more transparent, thereby allowing you to establish and maintain a public reputation. eBay works on this principle (with their buyer/seller feedback system), and, to a lesser extent, Amazon (with their metareviews of reader reviews). [diveintomark]

sometime being there is all you need to do. nice catch. thanks mark

insight of the day: do not let lawrence handle tech support questions. do not let him pass things on to 'the team'.. do not write to dave.. do not write to his ceo, do not write to marketing. do not follow-up on the problem by email everyday from the 14th to the 21st.... give up. fire up whois and start making phone-calls.

Brent thinks he can have my logs fixed within an hr or so. THANKS BRENT!
