Of Hitler and double standards. Mac Expo

Whew, a long day at Mac Expo and a gathering afterwards. Maybe it was me, but this was the least interesting Expo that I can remember going to. There were fewer booths than last year, and those that were there were domintated by: 1) iPod covers, 2) laptop carrying cases, 3) book publishers/sellers (that's a good sign, I think), and 4) drive manufacturers. There were several software booths that interested me, as usual mostly those on the fringes. I suppose the web is really hitting show developers, and one reason there were so many iPod and laptop cover makers is that those are the kinds of things that can't be sold as easily on the web. It's a pity, because at a busy show with a lot of exhibitors, serendipty often allows you to find software you might have missed otherwise, which did happen to me today. The small show doesn't bode poorly for Apple, as much as it does for IDG who sponsors it.
