I tried logging back in to "Groove" on my home PC, after unchecking the "remember password" setting. Unfortunately, my password no longer works. There's no way I managed to mistype my long and complicated passphrase in exactly the same way twice, so something must have gotten corrupted. I recently defragmented that drive, perhaps that was the problem.
In any case, Groove is obviously too fragile to use at present. I'll give it another look the next time there's a significant update. It did leave behind about 25 MB worth of junk and some registry entries on my system when I uninstalled it, that's a bit annoying.

Jennifer Klyse: "I want to build a service that allows individuals to monitor, on a daily or weekly basis, all official activity of their elected officials in Washington." Amen. [Scripting News]
It's a nice idea in theory, but I can see a couple of practical difficulties. First is that elected officials aren't likely to be all that thrilled at the idea of someone closing monitoring their activity. The second is that it would require a great deal of storage space for all those 700-page bills Congress votes on without reading.

ATF, tax agents raid Tacoma gun store (again). Evidence of tax evasion and scores of unaccounted-for guns led federal investigators yesterday to search the gun shop that once owned the rifle used in the Beltway sniper killings.
More than a dozen agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and the Internal Revenue Service conducted early-morning raids at Bull's Eye Shooter Supply near the Tacoma Dome and the luxury Lakewood home of its owner, Brian Borgelt.
The warrants authorizing the searches remained sealed while agents inventoried boxes of materials seized at both locations. [FirearmNews.com]
It seems the media is still pushing the smear campaign that was disproven already.

"Groove" has the ability to share a space between multiple computers using the same account--I thought I'd give this a try, as a way to share files between my home and work PCs. To do this I saved an account file from Groove on my home PC, which I then imported into Groove on my work PC.
Unfortunately, the work PC refuses to accept the password for the account, saying it's invalid. This seems rather suspicious, since the odds of mistyping the passphrase twice in exactly the same way when I created the account are so low as to be insignificant. When I get home I'll try turning off "remember passphrase" and retyping the passphrase there.
