A picture named MB107.jpgStarfest2002: Concours d'Elegance at the Brickyard-- Indianapolis Motor Speedway  Information has finally hit the mailbox for the annual geekfest of classic 'Benz members who make up the Mercedes Benz Club of America.   This year Starfest2002 will be in Indianapolis August 11-16, 2002.  For those of you who have a classic Benz, which is normally defined as about the time you get it paid off, this annual car club gathering is like none other!  Several hundred MB's all on the infield of The Brickyard, lots of friendly people, fun and great food-- as well as educational seminars on classic restoration and mechanical information and a large trade fair with vendors.  Top that off with a couple laps on the famous 2.5 mile brickyard oval after the coucours and a fun historic rally through Indiana's covered bridge country and you can see why people come from all over the USA and Europe to attend this "Mercedes Benz" only car club show.  Those of us who belong to the Model 107 AKA 450SL Club will gather to celebrate our classic Baroque buggies and trade tips. You're truely owns a Champagne and Bambo leather '79 450SL, which sports just over 60,000 original miles. (Looks similar to Diane's 80 450SL)

For those of you who own a newer MB are welcome too.  Joining the MB Club of America offers you great fun with wonderful people and even discounts at your local MB dealers on parts and services.

A picture named earthshine.jpgSpace Weather News for May 14, 2002 : The planet Venus and Earth's moon will have an eye-popping close encounter on Tuesday, May 14th. Finding the pair is easy: simply face west after sunset. The slender crescent moon will lie less than two degrees (about the width of your index finger held at arm's length) from brilliant Venus. A bonus: Look at the moon's dark terrain. Sunlight reflected from our own planet makes it glow. A crescent moon with "Earthshine" is one of the loveliest sights in the heavens.
