It Has to be a Mercury Retrograde

Let me see... all is not well in Blogville today.

Halley's giving David hell for various things at the conference. While being out of Diet-Coke and was last seen OD'ing a quart of BIG DIG's from Brigham's on street corner somewhere in Beantown. Click here.

David is trying to explain why he is waving around a pair of jockey shorts, and what he can't explain he takes pictures of at the conference. Click here.

Jenny the Information Diva is talking about Integrating Blogging and Chat into Conferences while completely missing the sideshow online today. She must be at work or trying to explain to David what she wants Weblogging to do. Completely missing the sideshow in Beantown.

AKMA's can't find his brownies.

Doc's HD pooped out and now car battery's dead.

I just went to start the Benz, and now MY battery's dead. Rrrr... hell it's DEAD. I just put the battery charger on it myself! Nanner!

And most of all... Rageboy's no where to be found.

Now Doug's home from a wonderful day passing out drugs to the patients at the hospital. And now he wants to know why I'm laughing at the computer screen. Hmmmm?

It Has to be a Mercury Retrograde-- Later folks! I'm going to get some dinner.

The Whodda Hooper Department

David and Halley are having a wonderful time co-blogging at Connectivity 2002. David's a wonderful Blogger who has the uncanny ability to make even the most technical things so interesting. (And photos too!)

Halley's been giving that rare female POV that rarely bloggs at conferences. (Amazing she isn't channeling Rageboy today! Wonder what's wrong?)

And then there's Doc. It appears everything Doc touches today has an immediate hemorrhage. Do we need to buy you AAA card?  Rrrrr yourself!

And now I'm headed off to the store!

I Am Not A Bloghole:

And the winner is: bloghole : A number of folks are now starting to remark in private correspondence that they are "not a bloghole," or "don't want to be a bloghole" for not linking to something. [Doc Searls Weblog]

I am not a bloghole! (sigh) While I hate to admit this publically-- the reason I haven't linked to people in my left and right columns, is (gulp) because I don't know how. (Hanging head in shame.) I like to people in my blogs, but now that's not good enough? No one has ever built a template that will help me do it on my own! (sniff--honkkkkk-sniff)

Squeeze Your Enemy Out of Money

News.Com: "A legal fight that has pitted file-swapping software companies Kazaa BV and StreamCast Networks against big record labels and movie studios is collapsing as the small companies run out of funds."  [Scripting News]

Obviously some people don't get it. It's a normal hardball tactic to put the squeeze on your opposition by running up the legal bills until they're broke. Ethical no. But that's how they're playing hardball these days. We can count on RIAA and SoundExchange trying this on the webcasters in the Court of Appeals later this summer/fall over CARP.

Doc in the Hood

"We stopped on the way home to have dinner with friends in Monterey Park, the Los Angeles "Sino-suburb" with some of he best Chinese food outside of China. I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant we went to, but I wasn't paying attention. All I remember is the location: on the North side of Garvey, just west of New. Cantonese. Huge photographic murals of Hong Kong on the walls. Proprietor's name is Dominic, or something like that. Anyway, highly recommended. Had a great time. Now I gotta hit the sack." [Doc Searls Weblog]

Hate to break the news to you Doc, but that describes one of THOUSANDS of Chinese resturants in the area, kiddo. Yes, we have excellent Chinese food in the area. (Trust me I'm spoiled about the quality especially when I'm back in Illinois. What passes for Chinese food back in the Midwest is pale in comparision.) Our Japanese resturants and sushi bars are both good and very reasonably priced. Next time you're out here, I'll show you a couple. Even a kid friendly one to boot! The major problems for the locals is whenever we get a yen for a decent steak or to eat something beside Denny's after 8 PM: you're hosed.  As you know we live in Diamond Bar and to get American food you have to drive into Brea or at least 5-8 miles out of "the zone" to find it open.

Chandra Levy's Body Found

Through ABC News: theWashington, D.C. Police have just confirmed they have found and ID the body of missing intern Chandra Levy today. The decomposed body was found in Rock Creek Park today by a man out walking his dog. The DC Medical Examiner ID Levy from dental records and a watch found on the body that was known to be her property.  This morning prior to the discovery her parents had appeared on Oprah Winfrey's show.

Hopefully there is enough evidence on the remains of Chandra's body to find out who did this to her.

Fortune.  Details of the pheonix memo on terrorists training to be pilots.  Hey, I went to pilot training with a guy form Saudi Arabia and one from Kuwait, they couldn't land a plane either (this isn't meant as an ethnic slam, but rather the countries in question didn't have a meritocracy in place that sent the best people -- one guy got a Rolls Royce upon graduation from his father, two years after he started the one year program). [John Robb's Radio Weblog]

"FBI's 'Phoenix' Memo Unmasked Fortune's investigative reporter, the only journalist to see confidential document, reveals its true name and nature." Lovely. Wonder who the leaker was... and we wonder why Chaney's not thrilled with the idea of having an open public investigation? Doesn't anyone get the concept we are at war with these people? Or am I just an old fart without a clue?
