Conservative talkshow host Shawn Hannity is at the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, CA doing a national remote for KABC 790 AM. I just got a call asking me to come down and take some shots.
While Shawn is sometimes a little too conservative for me, I do respect him for putting Bill Simon's feet to the fire yesterday. Hannity tried to get Simon (who is running for Governor in CA,)to explain why he is in favor of giving non-citizens California Driver's Licenses. Simon did the duck and jive for over five minutes before Hannity gave up. Simon needs to wake up, this is a major issue many in this state have a real problem with. I would prefer if we do issue Driver's Licenses to these people, make it a non-resident or non-UScitizens Driver's License. At least this way, they will not get confused with US citizens and be automatically registered to vote ala MotorVoter.
Be back shortly. The Library's not that far away... pictures to follow. Can't share them because we couldn't get any decent ones to publish. Oh well. This hasn't been a great week.

Oxygen.com Plans to Cut 2/3rd's of Jobs
NEW YORK (AP) - Oxygen Media said Tuesday it is laying off nearly two-thirds of the staff at its oxygen.com Web site and is scaling back the site's content because of difficult business conditions. Twenty-nine people, out of a total of 44 at oxygen.com, are expected to lose their jobs over the next three months, bring the site's total staff to 15, said spokeswoman Kassie Canter. The focus of oxygen.com will also shift to promoting the Oxygen cable network, rather than original content. Chat rooms, for example, are being phased out. (more)
Why am I not surprised? Look! The reality check is you can only have so many channels of crappy programming before the public's eye glaze over and they hit the remote. Last I checked, unless you have Tivo, you can only watch one channel at the time. Most of the programming and content Oxygen has been putting out is nothing but rehashed reruns of female oriented programming. What new programming they've put onair is less than stellar in the production values. Now add to that a website that is a cross between People and Parent's Magazines laced with more beauty and skincare ads than Vogue's Fall Fashion Premiere. PLEEEASSSE! Stick a fork in it and get it over with!
