Bush may cut school funds for military Several local districts stand to lose significant amounts As the country prepares for a possible war with Iraq, the Bush administration is planning to cut education funding for hundreds of thousands of children in military families. The government's proposal would eliminate "federal impact aid" provided since 1950 to school districts for military children who live in homes off base, and for children of parents who work as civilians on military bases but live elsewhere...more [Seattle P-I] It's tough finding the money to pay for those tax cuts for the wealthy. So Bush has decided to take away money that amounts to over 10% of yearly budgets in some cases. This is just one more example of how Bush has his priorities all screwed up. He'd rather line his wealthy friends pockets, while taking the money from the children of the servicemen and women he seems so intent on sending into combat for a poorly thought out cause. Ex-Qwest execs indicted Four former officials accused of improperly booking $33M in revenue in 2001. Four former executives of Qwest Communications International were indicted Tuesday, charged with falsely booking $33 million in revenue... ...Those indicted included Grant Graham, Qwest's former chief financial officer, as well as Thomas Hall, a former senior vice president, John Walker, the company's former vice president for its government and education unit, and Bryan Treadway, the company's former assistant controller.
