Sources Of Inspiration.
Whenever I need to take some time off and recharge the wordsmithing batteries I reach for my stash of inspirational books, if I’m not in a city with excellent bookstores to browse for hours.
These are at the top of the stack:       I am so lucky I managed to locate and buy my copies of the Les Murray books. Walk into just about any bookstore and you would be hard pressed to find a copy of anything by our greatest poet. It’s rare to find a bookshop assistant who knows who he is. Usually they think he’s that Hungarian guy on SBS TV who does the soccer programs.

Les Murray: Fredy Neptune. Les Murray: Conscious and Verbal. Les Murray: Subhuman Redneck Poems.
Les Murray: Fredy Neptune, Conscious and Verbal, and Subhuman Redneck Poems.

Like many people I was turned off poetry at high school by how poorly it was taught, and especially by the obsession with the English Lake District nature poets and their ilk.
It was only when I came across Walt Whitman’s work in a second-hand bookstore that I saw poetry could be about the real world and be exciting to boot.
Then Les Murray ’s work reinforced the fact that poetry itself could be an extraordinarily expressive medium for writing about our own lives here in Oz.

GoLive 6 & LiveMotion 2 Available.
Adobe Systems releases GoLive 6 and LiveMotion 2, in the United States at least. Delays of 3 to 6 months before new Adobe releases were available outside the US used to be quite common, as they only ship them as boxed product.
Macromedia on the other hand makes its new software available everywhere simultaneously via ESD (Electronic Software Distribution) sales off its website. That’s one area where Macromedia continues to be way ahead of its competitor.
