A thought
Digital camera + GPS. Each exposure would have the usual image data, but also date, time, location and orientation in three dimensions, plus focal length and sensor size. If suitably indexed, we could all contribute to clickable maps, containing mosaics of multiple pictures taken by any number of people.

Once this has been running for a while, we could click back in time through stacked mosaics, to see locations taken in the past, or scroll/click to go from place to place without needing to go via a map.

Until cameras have GPS, perhaps we could start a version of GeoURL specifically to link pictures with locations? How great to be able to click on a beach and see Bill Brandt's Nudes?

VintagePostcards.com has a catalogue of postcards ranging from the odd to the strange to the seriously disturbing. (I'm not linking to the nasty ones. Find your own).

I wonder who would send a postcard of a lynching?

Dear Mum,
Wish you were here.

Weird.

Is that a lobster on your trousers, or are you just pleased to see me?

Seb and Lucy - just two of the lovely people with whom I spent the New Year celebrations. More pictures soon.

I hope you all had a good time and I wish all my readers a very happy and successful 2004.
