I've rolled back the site to my pre-existing theme and layout.  I'm rethinking what it is exactly I'm doing with ...useless miscellany.

Eating a little crow

I owe Joe Jenett a huge apology for my criticism of the modified version his Simplicity Theme for Radio.  I was (am) having some difficulty with the underlying CSS that (should) render the menus at the top in white.  This (seeminlgy minor) issue coupled with an unruly RSS Display javascript added up to a whole lot of frustration.   This frustration led to an outlash that was totally uncalled for.

Joe, kindly via email, reminded me that this venting was over resources freely volunteered by generous people like Joe willing to invest the time and share their efforts with rest of us not willing or capable of creating such things on our own.

Thanks Joe.  You've taught me a valuable lesson and I'm not just refering exclusively to CSS templates.

You Never Give Me Your Money

"What is the budget of the INS? Let's just pick a number, shall we? Say it's one tiny little million dollars. I'm going to postulate that the INS has a budget in the many, many millions of dollars. I wouldn't be surprised even a smidge if the INS had a billion dollar budget. (I could be wrong. It happens often. But in this instance it doesn't matter.) I could get three pals of mine and a few bloggers I know (and maybe Linda Ronstadt, just because I love her voice) and pay a few hundred data-entry clerks to completely overhaul the INS computer systems for a million dollars. Hell. Most of that would probably have to go to Linda. So don't tell me that you have "insufficient resources". Your resources are legion. You have a ridiculous overabundance of resources. This is the U.S. f'ing A, for crying out loud. " [on davidgagne.net]

Ahhh yes, capitalism at it's best.

Lot's of good stuff here for MT bloggers.  Can't wait to give the RSS feed plugin a try.

Radio CSS

I'm not real sure about the new Theme.  It's CSS based, but extremely messy code wise.  Exceptions, spans and font callouts everywhere.  Seems to defeat the purpose of using CSS inthe first place in my opinion.

Perhaps with Radio, there is no easy CSS.  Hard to believe, so I'll probably knuckle down and either streamline this theme or start another one more true to the reasons for using CSS.

...and what's up with that damn javascript RSS display box from Adam Curry's site?  No matter what, it seems to push any content below it to the right and off the screen.  It's driving me crazy.  It's almost enough to push me to using SSI.  </rant>

Musical morning

Lot's of good music on DirecTV 818 (Progressive) this morning getting ready for work...

'Southern Cross' by Crosby Stills Nash & Young
In the SunMusic by Joseph Arthur

When Doves Cry by Patti Smith

Good eclectic mix!

That's reminds me... this past weekend listening to our local PR station... my daughter making up her own nonsense words as I croon out the real words to an instrumental 'Ohio' performed some accoustic guitarist.

A timeless moment on so many different levels.  I'm smiling inside now at the thought of her recalling the moment 20 or 30 years from now :)
