The rise and fall of BeOS A comparison which draws some parallels between BeOS and Preston Tucker, the failed car builder. BeOS was very interesting but the platform never seemed to gain significant user interest. The move from PowerPC to Intel left a lot of Mac people in the dust and the competition with Linux (and other unix variants) made it so very difficult to get peoples attention. Be got caught between a rock and a hard spot.
