SFGate - First woman to head rabbi group

Rabbi Janet Marder of Los Altos Hills will be installed next week as the first female president of the nation's largest group of Jewish clergy.

Marder, the senior rabbi of Congregation Beth Am, will lead the 1,800- member Central Conference of American Rabbis, which represents ordained leaders in the Jewish Reform movement.

Congrats to Rabbi Marder!

Any time the topic of international conflicts comes up, I tell people that I believe the core underlying issue is womens' rights. Think of all the trouble spots in the world, then consider the rights that women have in those spots. If women were equal, then those places wouldn't be so f'ed up. I'm so proud of my religion, for radically changing it's views on gender roles, and for wholeheartedly accepting women and men as spiritual and community leaders.
