nav links tweak

In the navigator links, I wanted a separator. I thought, "how about just a blank thing?" In Radio's 127.0.0.1:5335 page, it comes out looking cool, a nice thick gray horizontal line, just kinda like I wanted. In the live site, it says [[Error: Can't find file, " ".]] Hmm, so give it a real file but still call it by an empty name? I'll try that...

category URL confusion

So ... what are the URLs for the weblog's categories? I assumed that if the weblog is at http://radio.weblogs.com/0100945/, and I have a "bp" category, it'd be http://radio.weblogs.com/0100945/bp/ . Apparently that's not so.

Apparently it has an extra "categories/" link in it, and it just contains the rss.xml file for the given category.

Backpacking & Hiking intro

To start off the backpacking & hiking section, I'll just mention all the trips I recall at the moment. Eventually, I hope to put up the trip reports.

- 1980 "Sheldon's trip", Kearsarge Pass, Gardiner Basin, 60-lakes, Rae Lakes, Glen Pass

- mid-80's, I'd guess, with Joel & Karen; short loop into the Desolation Wilderness, to Lake Aloha

- mid-90's 4th of July, with Nik, to the Velma Lakes. My mom said "I was just talking to Velma last week!". 'Struth. Deb's 1st operation.

- 1998, a loop with Nik in the Emigrant Wilderness.

- 1999, 1st solo BP trip: 77 miles along the PCT, from Sonora Pass to my parents' front door in SLT. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/no-gear/message/10

- 2000 June, warmup trip with Turly: the Skyline-to-the-Sea Trail. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/no-gear/message/14

- 2000 July-August, Emigrant Wilderness to Tuolomne Meadows

- 2001 just before Labor Day, a short and HOT loop up from Hetch Hetchy to Jack Main Canyon

Name Change to GIGO...

Considering a name change: Ok, having given up on using just "Radio Weblog" for my anagrammatic weblog name, I tried "Doug Landauer's Radio Weblog". That got me some better choices:

  • GIGO: words unreadable aloud
  • arguable words, golden audio
  • bolder language, audio sword
I think I like the GIGO one best.

(Later): Changed the title, and added a couple of other anagrams under it as a "description" that really isn't.

Moving R.U. to OS X

So, I downloaded Radio for Mac OS X. Told it to go to this usernum (for my already-existing site that I had set up using OS 9). How do I tell it to start with the same content?

What it did was to show an empty log, with nothing there at all. At least it looks right after I go back to OS 9 and re-edit something.
