An exercise by Michael "Oblivio" Barrish is strangely reminiscent of this brilliant paper by Guy L. Steele (.ps).
Both are examples of Constrained Writing. One of my favorite examples is Mike Keith's mathematically-inspired rewrite of E.A. Poe's famous poem. Some other related links can be found at "Mike Keith's World of Words and Numbers".
