2004 Presidential Election

The latest Zogby poll information on Iowa and Tennesse shows Dean in front.

Dave Winer is trying to get all of the Presidential candidates to send their bloggers to Harvard and BloggerCon. Edwards' campaign turned down the offer. Dumb bunnies.

Josh Marshall is pointing to a poll on current administration foreign policy. It appears that the war will definitely be a factor in the 2004 Presidential election. Says Marshall, "But these numbers do show that the White House has serious vulnerabilities on foreign policy and national security issues. The 2004 election could well turn on whether the Democrats will nominate a candidate who has sufficient credibility on national security issues to exploit those vulnerabilities. "

Denver November 2003 Ballot

An e-mail from the Election Commission to City employees states that, "The VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE for the November 4th Coordinated and Regular Biennial School Election is October 6, 2003. TO VOTE, YOU MUST BE REGISTERED."

Referendum 33 backers can't be happy about the news that two Wembley executives were handed a 22 count indictment on Tuesday. Wembley is the author of the amendment and the company that owns four of the five race tracks that will receive Video Lottery terminals. The Rocky Mountain News [September 10, 2003, "Wembley faces bribery charges"] is reporting that, "The indictment accuses an executive of London-based Wembley PLC and an executive from the company's facility in Rhode Island of trying to influence gambling legislation in the state with multimillion-dollar payments over a number of years." Critics of the amendment were already pounding the drum over the sweetheart deal that Wembley was getting, and they didn't have to bribe a single Colorado politician. Bye bye 33.

Here's a brief outline of the amendment from the Rocky [September 10, 2003, "Amendment 33 at a glance"]. Here's the coverage from the Denver Post [September 10, 2003, "Video-lottery firm's execs are indicted"].

The Colorado Globe has a link to an article about the case here and here. Here's an article from the Channel 7.
