Denver November 2004 Election
Mark Udall is waiting for the court decision on last spring's redistricting in Colorado before deciding whether or not to challenge Ben Nighthorse Campbell for his Senate seat, according to the Denver Post [November 12, 2003, "Udall links Senate bid to court ruling"]. From the article, "Udall became a plaintiff in the lawsuit filed by Democratic Colorado Attorney General Ken Salazar after the Republican-controlled state legislature tossed out a 2002 court-approved redistricting map in favor of their own. The court map gave Democrats an edge in two of seven congressional districts, Republicans an edge in four and made one district competitive, with Republicans, Democrats and unaffiliated voters evenly divided. The new map gave Republicans an advantage in five districts and Democrats in two, although Udall's District 2 could be up for grabs without Udall running. If the court upholds the Republican map, Udall might have no choice but to run for re-election to the U.S. House."
