Copyright

News.com.com: "Orrin Hatch, the senator who once said the recording industry should be able to destroy music pirates' PCs, will be in charge of a new Senate panel responsible for writing copyright laws. Hatch, a Utah Republican, on Thursday was formally named chairman of the Senate Intellectual Property subcommittee. It's responsible for overseeing the U.S. Copyright Office and drafting legislation and treaties relating to copyright and patent laws."

Terri Schiavo

Mt. Virtus: "A hearty congratulations must be made to the leadership of the United States Congress for hearkening to their constituents' pleas for life and justice: the House and Senate have both delayed their scheduled recesses to pass compromise legislation that will stop the starvation of Terri Schiavo and give her recourse to her constitutional rights. Congressman Bob Beauprez announced the development this during his brief speech at today's State Central Committee Meeting, evoking a grand expression of support from most of the audience members. Only moments before, Congressman Tom Tancredo spoke eloquently in defense of Terri, making some important points."

Bull Moose: "The Moose notes the passing of conservatism. All pretenses of limited government conservatism have been cast aside with congressional intervention in the Schiavo case. The era of big government conservatism is in full swing. That is, if it can be called conservatism, at all."

Update: TalkLeft: "There will be a hearing at 3pm ET in federal court on Terri Schiavo's parents request to reinsert the feeding tube."

Update: Daily Kos: "Latest polling on the Shiavo case."

Update: Mt. Virtus debunks the ABC poll cited by the Kos.

Mt. Virtus intends to answer A Curious Stranger's comments tonight. Here's the post that Curious commented on. http://bendegrow.com/index.php?p=652#comments" What fun!

Colorado Water

Rocky Mountain News: "Recreational water users are asking legislators to pull the plug on a measure that would limit the amount of water that could be used for kayakers, fishermen and swimming parks after a state Supreme Court ruling issued last week that such uses are valid. The measure is up for a hearing today in the Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources Committee." [March 21, 2005, "Lawmakers urged to flush bill"].
