Denver November 2004 Election

Senator Campbell looks to be leaning towards endorsing Dave Liniger for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, according to the Rocky Mountain News [April 2, 2004, "Campbell eyes endorsement"]. I wonder if Mr. Liniger can win a statewide office having never run for office before. From the article, "Campbell said it was still too early to make an endorsement, since the Republican field was not set. But, he added, 'I am leaning toward Liniger.' If Liniger enters the race, the primary could divide Colorado's two Republican senators. Another GOP contender, former Congressman Bob Schaffer, recently visited Capitol Hill, met with Campbell and picked up the endorsement of Sen. Wayne Allard. Campbell described Schaffer as a good speaker with a proven record in Congress."
