Denver November 2004 Election

Here's an article about Peter Coors' imminent campaign for the U.S. Senate from Colorado, from the Rocky Mountain News [April 10, 2004, "Coors has a reputation, but no political record to run on"]. From the article, "But by virtue of his famous name, and because of his position as chairman of the nation's third-largest brewing corporation, Coors is a public figure. He sits on boards and helps direct millions of dollars of charitable donations. He attends corporate events. He gives speeches, frequently expressing opinions on topics that likely will arise on the campaign trail."

Here's another article from the Rocky, this time about Bob Schaffer [April 10, 2004, "As opponents keep popping up, Schaffer's friends remain loyal"]. Schaffer, of course, has announced his candidacy officially. From the article, "Stansbery said many Republicans aren't questioning qualifications - just electability, especially since Coors is set to enter the race with more money and more name recognition. Schaffer also has lost his only statewide race, for lieutenant governor in 1994."
