Denver November 2004 Election

Colorado's precinct caucuses are today. Here's some information from the Rocky Mountain News [April 13, 2004, "Colorado caucuses today"].

Peter Coors is expected to announce a run for Ben Nighthorse Campbell's U.S. Senate seat today. The Rocky is on the story [April 13, 2003, "A true Coors original"].

Here's a story about Mr. Coors from the Denver Post [April 13, 2004, "Peter Coors nailing down a political platform"]. From the article, "A Republican, a gun owner and a father of six, he opposes abortion, supports the right of all Americans to bear arms and believes marriage should be only between a man and a woman. But, in his first public comments since word came out Wednesday that he would seek the seat Republican Campbell is vacating, he said he is unsure whether he will support a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. As chairman of Adolph Coors Co., he has affirmative-action policies in place and offers partnership benefits for gays and lesbians. 'If I hadn't agreed with those policies, I wouldn't have implemented them,' said the silver- haired Coors, whose children range in age from 22 to 32 years old. Most important, he says, he's a fiscal conservative concerned about balancing the budget, creating jobs, stimulating the economy and ensuring a strong national defense. As for government, he says 'we need to exhibit some restraint and control and live within a budget.'"
