Denver November 2004 Election
Here's some early polling information for the Colorado U.S. Senate race, from the Rocky Mountain News [April 3, 2004, "'Salazar' rings bell"]. From the article, "The poll of 400 Coloradans who said they are likely to vote in this year's elections was taken March 31 and April 1. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points. Salazar, Colorado's attorney general since 1999, scored 88 percent name recognition. The figures in the Rocky Mountain News/News 4 poll are similar to those in polls conducted for Salazar and Schaffer, said Salazar campaign manager Mike Stratton. 'One thing that we like about the poll results is that the attorney general has a broad base and bipartisan support,' Stratton said. 'We welcome that bipartisan support.' Schaffer, a former three-term congressman from northeastern Colorado, wasn't far behind in the name game, with 70 percent of respondents aware of the candidate. Liniger was at 22 percent. And Mike Miles, who will compete against Salazar in the Democratic primary, notched 25 percent name recognition."
