The Playboy Jazz Festival Weblog Stretches Out and Powers Up for 2003 The action for the 25th Playboy Jazz Festival will get under way this Thursday, February 27, 2003 with the announcement of performers and other related events at a press conference at The Playboy Mansion. The New Jazz Thing will be there to provide pictures and details to begin preparations for coverage of this 25th anniversary celebration, Saturday and Sunday, June 14 and 15, 2003 at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. To get us all in the mood, here are some pictures from the 2002 press conference. It looks like I will be solo at the press conference this year, Ron Dhanifu of Jazz 88 has other commitments...it will not be the same. Last year was our first at this announcement event. It was a good time to meet some of the artists and get the scoop on what the festival is going to look like. There are a number of events around the L.A. area leading up to the big weekend, so these get announced also.
We'll be sprucing up the Playboy Jazz Festival Weblog this week to get it ready also. There are pictures from last year's festival that we will be putting up (here's some 2001 photos). We get lots of folks coming to the site via Google, with a Playboy Jazz Festival search linking to the weblog (2) and the 2001 pictures (4) in the top 5 results.
