Check out the watercolors by Oona Austin on Phil's blog. I really admire watercolorists for their skill. I can only make brown and purple blurry blobs.
Austin's work is primative yet modern - very colorfull and alive and it makes me think I'm there in the desert.
Happy
Birthday

Calitics notes:
The embattled governor of, well, you know where, was clocked over 90 mph on highway 46 near San Luis Obispo near the location James Dean was killed in 1955. So what? Since when is it illegal to speed in California?
Pulling in Dean's name at this point is sheer genius.
[from a story in the LA Times]
Two propositions are attached to the recall. Prop 54 is stupid and probably unconstitutional. As a frequent visitor to the coast however, I urge strong support of prop 53, which will fix the place up a bit (and mandate further state spending, complicating the job of the future governor.)

I heard on the radio that one hundred fifty eight candidate applications have been turned in with the required 65 sigantures and $3500 registration fee, but none will be certified until Wednesday. Bloggercon is lots less expensive. Wanna sponsor me?
