Bill and Arianna sitting in a tree...

A comment from candidate Cheryl Bly-Chester asks who has dropped out of the race. As far as I can tell, only Scott Davis and Bill Simon have made a request to withdraw. They can't though, as candidates promise, in writing, not to withdraw when they sign up. They can however claim to quit and stop campaigning.

I've updated the Candidates List and added to the Face List to reflect the current status of the various campaigns. There remain about 100 serious contenders.

Recent polls show that between 27 and 40 percent of Californians have not made up their minds on the recall. Thus the race remains wide open, although consolidation is happening both on the right with Simon's dropout, and the left with possible cooperation between Huffington and Camejo.
