A Top General Still Stands Behind Chávez [From The New York Times]
This is good news if it is true. This eliminates any thread of a violent Coup, since Baduel would, at least, have to agree not to counter act on it. Of course, If he were to stage a Coup, Would he tell international correspondents?. But, what is good news for one group is bad news for others...
This is bad news for the rebel military in Plaza Altamira. They have failed, big time. They should leave the Plaza since they don't contribute anything positive to the cause.
This is bad news for the Chávez government, since now they only have a civil rebellion in their hands. They sort of understand a military rebellion, but they can't handle a civil rebellion. Especially, since they deny it exists, but are taking measures against it (I know. This doesn't follow any standar for logic the Greeks thought up).
I don't think it is a coincidence that both military groups (the government and the rebels of Altamira) have demonstrated an utter lack of will to admit failure. If this something they learned in the Academy?
Finally, this is bad news for the group of the opposition that thinks a Chile styled Pinochet is the answer to Venezuela's problem. Good riddance to them!
