Shark Attack - Seems that if you swim where there are sharks, you'll get got! Amidst the calls for the bombing, shooing, harpooning and harassing of the sharks in and around Port Lincoln, emerges the fact that the [now dead] fisherman was wearing a shark repellent device. That obviously didn't work. The Sydney Morning Herald takes up the story:
The six-metre female white pointer that killed a Port Lincoln scallop diver, Paul Buckland, had been harassing boats in South Australia's west coast fishing community for two months and was so aggressive it ignored a shark repellent device.
Mr Buckland, 23, was pulled bleeding from the water wearing an activated SharkPOD - a South African-made device - that failed to protect him.
Chief Inspector Malcolm Schluter, of Port Lincoln police, said yesterday that it appeared a hungry white pointer intent on a target was not deterred by the device.
Have these devices been shown to work - or do they fit into the category of copper bracelets, magnets, rabbits feet, garlic cloves and "exercise while watching TV" scams?

Hmmm - Radio was blackout just a few minutes ago - I went to look at my site, and it had disappeared, replace with an ugly 404 error page. So had the half dozen others that I checked. Perhaps the powers that be a reacting to the MT revolution!
