Featherless chickens - ISRAELI scientists are working to create a featherless chicken to allow farmers to produce birds faster and cut down on the processing of carcasses, the daily Yediot Aharonot said overnight.
The featherless bird is being developed by the genetics faculty at the Rehovot agronomy institute near Tel Aviv, said the daily, which published a photo of a prototype chicken without plumage.
Scientists hope the new breed will grow faster, suffer less from the heat, will be less fatty and will obviously not have to be plucked after being killed. [news.com.au]
