Dan, check out Frontier the CMS underneath Radio. A package that - for < $900 - can do most of what you showed me about Vignette. Its a free threaded XML-RPC server/client with an object database and a scripting language that looks much more readable than Tcl.

I have a new favorite band - STARSAILOR - and no I'm not affiliated with CDNow or any such site. Just a convenient link. This group sounds like the Violent Femme's minus all the nonesense that the Femme's used to sing. I predict these guys are going to be huge. I may actually have to buy their CD as opposed to getting all MP3's :)

Hey I've got it working! Dave's simple web services tutorial. Cool!

Hello Dave!
9:15:51 AM

e-Week: " "The people who say it's not necessary are those who are focusing on simple things," Salz said. "But if I want to do complicated document exchange, I need some sort of automation," which WSDL provides. ".... OK - I need a place that has clear arguments against this sort of thing. I understand the comments made by Dave et.al. regarding the need for simplicity and whatnot, but there needs to be a clear tid for tad in this discussion. All I see are various folks taking sides and hammering individual micro-arguments back and forth - as in "how many extraneous lines of code are in this wrapper.. (read it) ". A summary document of some sort would be extremely helpful. (And no I'm not qualified to write it! Why else would I be asking for it!)

Kin Hubbard. "It is pretty hard to tell what does bring happiness; poverty and wealth have both failed." [Motivational Quotes of the Day] [Pythoz.com (weblog.jorgen.larsen.name)]... Jorgen over at pythoz is pretty cynical :)
