Religion's in the news these days, so I thought maybe I'd bring out something that I'd be wondering that dovetails perfectly into Gretchen's blog. When I was young, I went to church, and I agree with the assessment that community is a very big part of the church experience. These days I'm an atheist, and although I don't miss the religion, I definitely miss the community. What's an atheist to do to supplement this community? Comments, please. :-) [The .NET Guy]
- you can always become an addict or alcoholic and join a 12 step group ... ooops those communities have God in them as well. Darn there is just something about a Surpreme Being that is hard to get around, or over, or under... oh gosh now I'm quoting Gospel songs...
But seriously, I used to be an atheist. All the way to the point where I had to admit certain things in my life just totally smacked of some higher entity's will. One of these days I'll finish the story of how we got out of East Germany and were able to survive with over 2000 agents on our case. And if I knew you better I'd share a few personal experiences with you that would make your hair stand up and sympathize with my faith. Anyway maybe one day you will have a change of heart.
