Here's someone who's thinking. Read this article. I had the whole thing here but realized that was a bit much!
It's the novelty of new technologies at work. When you first had a video camera you hand't seen much of yourself on TV. It was fascinating to see yourself (and frankly most of us were watching ourselves!) in motion . . . you had a sense of how others saw you. Now almost everyone's been there, done that. Now it's weblogs. There's a fascination with the technology itself, and with the idea of keeping a kind of diary and sharing a bit of your life with other people. But that really only happens away from the 'puter, when you are spending real time with people.
