Pay for play. Why does radio suck? Because most stations play only the songs the record companies pay them to. And things are going to get worse. [Salon.com]

I was talking to a fellow from the US yesterday who was in town doing product demos. Out of the blue, with no prompting at all he mentions what a huge relief it was to listen to the radio here in Canada. There were lots of great bands he'd never heard of and a lot more variety then he heard back home. Maybe the question should be "Why does US Radio suck?"
