Doug just dropped by for a look at Radio. He's been thinking about using a web page to keep in touch with family and friends. I've been using "Frontier" (a much older product from Userland) for quite a while but it's so damn geeky you really don't want to wish it on your friends . . . unless of course they want to get geeky too.

But Radio is a whole other beast. It can get really deep. But for the core functionality of getting something up on a web page really quickly, what could be easier than Radio?

This was my first demo. I'm going to let more people know about this groovy new toy. I told Geoff M. about it a couple of weeks ago when he was in town. I wonder if he's started playing with it yet? Geoff, I'll give you a demo next time I'm in Montreal!

That's a Whole Lot of Power, Mac. Apple claims its new PowerMac, with two G4 chips running at 1 GHz, can run Adobe Photoshop about 70 percent faster than an Intel Pentium 4 at 2 GHz. By Leander Kahney. [Wired News] "There's a book called How to Build a Better Beowulf that's 230 pages long and tells you how to set up clusters with Linux," Dauger said. "We have a one-page manual (PDF) that shows you how to do it on PowerMacs. We've had high school students do it. We've had junior high school students do it. We even had a sixth grader in Hawaii do it."

A meandering article but one with fun factoids.

It's Open House day here at the CBC Broadcast Centre in Toronto. I'd forgotten about it. When I came into the building via the restaurant I thought it looked quite busy. Then I realized why. The atrium is packed, especially near the entrance to the Gould Studio. Inside there Radio One is doing live to air programming.

This was originally supposed to happen before Christmas but it was postponed due to the lockout situation. I'm always amazed at how many people come by for these things.

Canadian troops in Afghanistan will respect international law: Eggleton. cbc.ca Jan 29 2002 2:09AM ET [Canada news]

By not turning over POWs to the Americans, who are not respecting international laws?

Great Radio 8 tip! I've always liked using outlines, but until today, I thought it was too much trouble to publish them. Then along comes Radio 8 . . .
Great. Must read up on this and do it. I also like using outline.
