Bill Gates Views What He's Sown in Libraries. There is scant evidence that Bill Gates's five-year philanthropic effort to put computers in rural libraries has stopped population flight. By Timothy Egan. [New York Times: Technology]

An intersting article with a charming quote from one elderly woman. As bitter as I can be about Microsoft, I choose not to be cynical about Gates' philanthropy.

Build Your Own Apache Server with mod_perl. O’Reilly: “The Apache that ships with Mac OS X is the genuine article. We’re not talking about a weak, proof-of-concept port of Apache that runs under Windows. Mac OS X’s FreeBSD underpinnings allow for the Apache Web server to be as flexible and responsive as it is on any Unix-based operating system.” [ranchero.com]

Congrats to the Republicans. Now they control everything. What a war we're going to have, and the Supreme Court is going to get packed. Let's hope there's something left to vote out of office in 2004. [Scripting News]

New feature for Radio: Mail-From-Aggregator. "Some people like to read the news that the aggregator gathers in email. This can be useful if you travel a lot, or want to share news with a group of people who may not use Radio." [Scripting News]
What I'm looking for is a button in my news aggregator that would say 'mail' instead of 'post'. It would copy the body of the item into the body of a message in my email client, insert an appropriate subject line. From there I could send the item to whoever I like.
