The Beach Boys Pet Project Now in 5.1
Hollywood, CA (December 2, 2002)--On February 25, 2003, Capitol Records will release the Beach Boys classic, Pet Sounds, on DVD-Audio (plays on all DVD players). [ProSound News] 'The disc will play five different ways: Advanced Resolution Surround, Advanced Resolution Stereo, Advanced Resolution Mono, DTS 5.1 Surround Sound and DVD-Video Compatible Dolby Digital 5.1.'

I wonder if the Advanced Resolution Mono is a tip of the hat to Brian Wilson who is deaf in one ear and therefor mixed in mono. Well done.

Classic Sound Records, Posts Festival
London (December 2, 2002)--Classic Sound, a dedicated 5.1 classical and film music recording studio, has completed a major project for the BBC that involved engineering the live broadcast of this year's Glyndebourne Festival and subsequent editing. [ProSound News] 'Hutchinson comments, "This was a very exciting and challenging task, particularly as the editing was done on 72-track, which is quite unusual. I thoroughly enjoyed working closely with the BBC on a project of this magnitude."'

MediaGuardian.co.uk | Broadcast | Advert attacking Bush's intelligence banned 'Giles Pilbrow, the 2DTV producer, dismissed the request to seek Mr Bush's permission. "It's an idiotic request - we'd write a letter to Bush, but I doubt he could read it. Anyway the Bush joke was innocuous - we're much harder hitting about the president on the TV show." In the programme, everything has to be explained to Mr Bush by a sock-puppet sidekick, Professor Liebstrom.'
