The Toronto Raptors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 103-85 to reach the NBA playoffs. Hopefully both the Raptors and Toronto Maple Leafs will keep the Air Canada Centre busy for the next few months.

I was at the Toronto Yom Ha'atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) celebration and Israel rally earlier today. Starting at the Bathurst Jewish Community Centre people walked down Bathurst Street for about one half kilometre to the nearby Earl Bales Park. Both southbound lanes of the road were totally filled with people, numbering at least five thousand people in my estimate. Once at the park, there were a few brief speeches by the community leaders followed by Israeli music and food.

Overall the impact of standing on in the blocked off street and seeing it full of people waving Israeli flags and walking to the park grounds was very impressive. Hopefully people across Canada can build on the success of this march for the upcoming rally in Ottawa on Sunday.
