The Israel Solidarity Rally on Parliament Hill, Sunday was very fun, after arriving at the Bathurst Jewish Community Centre in Toronto at 4:30 in the morning, I bordered a bus that soon left for Ottawa. Arriving at 10am we were soon joined by thousands of people. During the two and a half-hour rally, Israeli and Jewish songs were played, and speakers such as Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Rabbi Michael Melchior and Canadian parliamentarian Irwin Cotler defended Israel’s right to defend itself in the face of terror. Even though few Members of Parliament attended hopefully that heard the rally’s message as it echoed throughout the Parliament Hill lawn.
The CBC takes note of the Ottawa rally stating that 10,000 people attended. Organizers place the number at 25,000.
