In a commentary in the National Post, George Jonas suggests that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon deliberately ordered the attack on Hamas terrorist Salah Shehadeh knowing that it would cause civilian causalities so they could serve as a warning to future attackers that their families would be at risk. MSNBC notes that Arab lobbyists believe they can pressure the US over Israel’s use of American made weapons. It writes: Separately, an array of arms control activists, pro-Arab lobbyists and Middle East analysts say the act could provide the U.S. with the leverage to restrain the kind of retaliations that appear to severely damage the chances for a longer-term settlement. Why not pressure the Palestinians not to do the things that lead to the retaliations in the first place? 12:36:56 AM ![]() |
