"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

"What if the North took over the South and didn't find any slaves?" --Peter S. Canellos

"Bush is a moron, he doesn't understand the economy, he has no relation to California and he's going down in November 2004." --Bob Mulholland (a Democrat, incredibly)

Granted: making Garner Viceroy of Iraq was one of the stupider things the Bushlette ever dunn. (That's saying a lot, of course.)

So now the Guvnah is going with a new boy. But he picks the managing director of Kissinger's Coups 'R Us dot com???

All I can say is that it's a good thing Congress doesn't have to have hearings about appointments to imperial posts, cuz how the hell could anyone say *anything* that sounds sane about the buffoons in the White House and their keystone-cops approach to nation-wrecking?

I went to visit my parents, who have a TV set. I saw the episode of X-Files with the Saddam bit (some Area 51 guy says Saddam is really an actor with some suburban American name, installed by the US to rattle sabers whenever we need an excuse). Cool.

Then I saw the actual Rumsfeld delivery of his quote about Iraqi vases. I'm sure glad I read the lines first, without seeing his facial expressions and gestures. I think I'd have gone through the roof if I'd actually seen him deliver the lines the first time I heard/read them.

How can anybody get away with shit like that?
