News -- Iran may be closer than we think to getting nuclear weapons, but will it do them any good?: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A2677-2003Mar9.html

Comment - I'm going to keep an eye out for articles on battlefield use of tactical nuclear weapons. I suspect that if a country like Iran or North Korea gets nukes, they won't be that helpful in a war against the U.S. military because they are such blunt weapons. For example, because a bomb would, say, destroy everything in a two-mile radius, you can't exactly use it near your own troops. And it's unlikely the U.S. would concentrate their forces (ala D-Day in WWII) and make them a likely target. Plus, our modern forces are designed to be stealthy and fast-moving. How can you nuke our armies if you can't find them?

Nukes are most useful to countries like Iran as blackmail weapons.

News -- Mystro from AOL may compete with TiVo: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/03/10/technology/10AOL.html

Comment -- Mystro would be tied in with cable systems. One feature is that it may limit what you can record. For example, you could only watch "Friends" within a half hour of its original broadcast. That's for the birds! Once again, big media is trying to shove something down the throats of consumers, rather than let us (the people who pay the bills) decide what we want.

News -- Tiny Toshiba fuel cell may replace batteries: http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/3179.html

Comment - T/J Technologies of Ann Arbor, an SBAM members, is working on similar technology. To make power-hungry electronic devices work better, you attack from two directions: make the device more power-efficient, and make the power source (battery) more powerful.

I think we need electronic devices that run on "good vibrations" or cosmic karma.
