News - I'm quoted in today's Lansing State Journal on how the war might affect Michigan small businesses: http://www.lsj.com/news/local/030320bizwar_9a.html

Comment - I noted the possible impact on tourism and the fact that a terrorist threat might shut down border traffic with Canada.

News - About 50 anti-war protestors were at the Capitol today, waving signs like "Drop Bush, Not Bombs".

I like this quote: "I'm so sad for all the people who are going to lose their lives," said Jessica Powrie, a 23-year-old Michigan State University student. "At least by being here, I'm doing something."

Like what exactly, except for skipping class? I remember being an MSU student in the Spring of 1972. Going to anti-war demonstrations was a great way to avoid studying (and meet cute Hippie Chicks!)

News - This is an interesting transcription of a chat session with a military expert from Jane's Defense Weekly: http://makeashorterlink.com/?N20B544E3

Comment - He says one major, but little understood, way this is different from the 1991 war is the significant use of information technology by U.S. troops. Lots of laptops and networking provides much better communications between infantry and attack planes, for example.

News - Spring begins at 8 p.m. tonight. Here's a good explanation of why we have seasons at the NASA Kids website: http://kids.msfc.nasa.gov/News/2001/News-VernalEquinox.asp
