News - Saturday is International Eat an Animal for PETA Day: http://www.yourish.com/archives/2003/feb23-mar1_2003.html#2003030102

Comment - I don't think you have to eat an entire animal, just the meat from an animal.

PETA stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. They are fanatic anti-meat maniacs.

I read a very good sci-fi novel by Nancy Kress where humans were injected with a biological modification (like nanotechnology or something) that allowed them to absorb nutrients from mud. So, not only did they not have to eat animals - they didn't have to cook, either!

News - An entire Web site devoted to Krusty the Klown: http://www.silverbox.com/krusty/

Comment - Simpson fans know that Krusty was elected to Congress last week.

News - China plans to put men in orbit in October: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/03/14/science/14ASTR.html

Comment - Their long range plans are to send Chinese astronauts to the Moon and Mars. I doubt that will happen, but maybe the competition will revitalize U.S. space efforts.
