Feedster Update

I'll blog more about this tomorrow but if you care, we added a bunch of features.  [_Go_]

Analyzing Feedster

Wow.  The single most cogent write up of Feedster yet.  I took the time to add *a lot* of comments to his analysis.  So if you care, surf on over to David Davies:

Feedster is different from Google - vive la difference

How do RSS search engines differ from 'conventional' HTML search engines such as Google?  [_Go_]

David -- thanks for caring.  I appreciate it.  And as a developer, I absolutely *loved* being described as "the canonical example of an RSS search engine".

Wanted: A List of Google's Query String Variables

Note: Ignore if that means nothing to you then just don't worry about ti.

With the number of people integrating Feedster into different things (I've already counted 3 or 4 I think), it makes sense for me to write up an official API.  Clearly I'd like to base it on Google's API so people who already support Google can support us with minimal effort.  Does anyone know where to find this?  I did a quick search for it but without any luck.  Thanks in advance.

Very Cool: A Link from Scripting

Wow.  Dave linked to Feedster.  Thank You!  And now The Werblog.  Very cool.  This just pointed out an interesting use of Feedster -- researching the postings that you want to link back to.  I guess that's kind of obvious but we're all so used to the "Go to blog => Copy Permalink => Go to Blogging Tool => Add Link to Post" and then repeat for the next link you want to make that it hadn't even occurred to me.

Note 1: I'm still fighting with that Mac Internet Explorer CSS issue.  Any CSS experts out there have any thoughts?  And if this helps, its based on the Plone theme from Zope if you know about Mac problems there.  Email or IM any thoughts.

Note 2: I'm not saying that the Plone theme has problems necessarily.  I made so changes and I could well have made the mistake.  Alexander Limi did just beautiful work on this and I really appreciate it.

Any Sherlock Users Out There ?

Yesterday I got a request to support Apple's Sherlock recommended comments for hyperlinked search results as illustrated here at the request of Ben Meadowcroft.  I did so and I think its alright -- so does he.  But I'd still like some confirmation.

More on Ben's very cool work tomorrow or shortly (as soon as I know its ok to post it).

Thanks Ben!  Excellent suggestion.

Feedster RSS Results for Queries Now Work in Radio's Aggregator

Heh.  I just got this fixed but I can't take credit for it at all -- Sjoerd Visscher told me how.  Thanks!
