The Curse of Outlook
Why is it that things that try and look and act like Outlook end up being the same type of slothful, buggy pigs like Outlook itself. I'm talking specifically about Ximian Evolution. Now don't get me wrong -- I like this application. Still I've seen it crash more than any other Linux application I run regularly. It also is big enough that when my Linux box slows down, I always think "Must close Evolution". So the questions that come to mind are:
- What's up with that ?
- Will Chandler suffer from it ?
- Is this just the natural end point for products that try and emulate Microsoft Apps ?
Please direct flames about my criticism of an open source app to /dev/null. Constructive feedback is completely welcome.
Note: System was 512 megs of ram on a P 733 w/ RH 9. That to me feels like a hefty box. Maybe I'm wrong. The only others were gaim, gnome terminal, gedit and FireBird. We're not talking a lot of crap here although I will confess to a hefty amount of FireBird tabs.
