Tags, Tags, Tags, Tags! Everyone Gets a Tag! Or the best thing about RSS is ...
Everyone thinks they can invent their own tags. I particularly like the new "TextAmerica" tag found in this rssurl.

Why is the High Tech Business Anti-Entropic?
This is something that just occurred to me. Perhaps its eating ice cream in the middle of the day for lunch. The natural world moves from order to disorder. That's just entropy. The high tech industry goes from order to disorder to order. Think about it. We go from a single vendor of a class of product or service to an ecosystem of vendors around that same class of product or service and then back to one or a few vendors. Think about these categories where this has been seen:
- Web Browsers
- Spreadsheets
- Word Processors
- Different types of personal computers (now the bulk is wintel but what ever happened to Sinclairs, Commodores, etc; the varying architectures)
And of course we're seeing this now with blogging tools where there seems to be a new one a minute.
Note: I do actually understand this but I still find it a really interesting question. Is it that the desire for buyer interop is so strong that it trumps a law of nature?

How to Piss Me Off: .ZIP Files for Linux Apps
Make a tool designed to run under Linux and then distribute it in a .ZIP file. Do the .tgz file as well for those of us who want to do a wget filename and then tar -zxf. Twits. Nice twits I suspect but twits.

Good Enough that Even I Donated Money or "Go Go McKnight!"
I definitely can be a bit of a "tight bastard" when it comes to $$$ (that's what a British friend once called me) so its always interesting to me what efforts I put $$$ into out of my own pocket. The latest is "The Button Collection that Conquered Metropolis".
Definitely worth supporting if you're into blogging. This is truly a public service.
