MatchMaker Matchmaker....

Scoble logs in with a scoop: Inside Yahoo's Personals:

"The next-door neighbor across the hall...from me runs Yahoo's Personals section. (Tagline: "Where millions of singles meet!") We talked yesterday a lot more about what's going on there. Turns out personals is one area where Yahoo is making a lot of money....He says that Yahoo is hiring like mad to code new features into the personals pages (since they are making money), but that he's worried that they won't be able to train the newbies fast enough. "When we put code on our server it'll be hit by millions of people immediately. There's no room for mistakes." Another thing he worries about? Prostitutes. Turns out that a fair number of the personal ads are from prostitutes who just want you to pay for sex or want you to visit their porn pages. via  [Scobleizer Radio Weblog]

You gotta love it.  When I was a kid we had "Love American Style."  Now, we've got the Yahoo personals.  Populated, it seems, by women of leisure.

First, Janis Ian.  Now Michael Jackson.  Let's turn this amp up to eleven....

Michael Jackson: music industry conspires to steal from artists via [bOing bOing]

Yeah, apparently, Michael is not pulling any punches: "The recording companies really, really do conspire against the artists -- they steal, they cheat, they do everything they can," Jackson said in a rare public appearance. "(Especially) against the black artists."

Adam Curry is all over this too.  But then, sadly, on the web-casting side of the music world comes this report: Labels to Net Radio: Die Now. Newsweek.

Oh, and this is old news.  Music Industry to Sue Individuals for File-Sharing.  And not good news.  But wounded animals often become dangerous and unpredicatable.

Blawg Patrol - nabs another one: Peter Sean.  And Peter says the Janis Ian article has made him rethink his views on the legal aspects of the whole file-sharing debate.
