Class-Action Lawsuits Gain Strength on the Web -  A growing number of Web sites provide information on pending class-action suits. And the National Consumer Law Center also keeps its clients informed about pending cases online.  New York Times

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride to end in litigation? -  Apparently plaintiffs lawyers are thinking of targeting theme parks for suit.

Digital Authenticity & Admissibility - a great post by The LitiGator (a mysterious Michigan lawyer).  Thanks to Denise for spotting this new blawg.  I've subscribed to the XML feed and added it to my new blawg outline.

Text of Anti Peer to Peer Sharing BillMarty reports: "The text of the bill authorizing spoofing and other activities designed to prevent the distribution of unauthorized works on a peer to peer network is available on the Politech site hereInteresting - the copyright owner has to notify the Department of Justice 7 days in advance of taking action." via The Trademark Blog

Yeah, I can see the major safeguards of that notification provision in action already.

[CUT TO BACKROOM  AT DOJ WHERE A LONELY FAX MACHINE SITS IN THE CORNER SPITTING OUT PAPER IN A STEADY STREAM]

FIRST DOJ EMPLOYEE: Uh, could you pick up those fax papers that are starting to cover the floor?

SECOND GUY: Sure. [THEN READING A FAX]... Say, it looks like Microsoft is going to send out some sort of 'remedial patch' to fix some file-sharing problem that is going on around the country...

FIRST GUY: Okay, whatever.  Just get all those papers off the floor.  And let me know when the coffee is ready...

Birds of a feather - "James Traficant, recently convicted of bribery and corruption, was expelled from the House on a vote of 420 to 1. The lone holdout was Gary Condit." via Robert Fortuno's Weblog

US Rep Howard Berman wants to give Hollywood the right to hack your computer - and why is that?  Well, as Ken Layne points out, maybe this helps explain: "Records show [Howard L.] Berman received at least $186,891 from the entertainment industry during the 2001-02 election cycle, including $31,000 from the Walt Disney Co. and $28,050 from AOL-Time Warner Inc."  [Story Link]

The Osbournes' Reality Show - It's not "real" unless someone files a lawsuit.  Okay, so now it's real. Any other questions?

More on the Blog-roots movement to oust clueless legislators -  Doc Searls writes about:

"Hollywood's sock puppets, one of which is Rep. Howard Coble, who represents the 6th District in North Carolina. Ed Cone lives there. So do my mother, my sister, many other friends and kinfolk, and my Alma Mater.  Coble is a nice old guy, very much a down-home kind of old fashioned Southern politician. I'm sure he brings home a lot of bacon. But he was also one of the backers of the DMCA.  It's an election year. He's up. And we need to take him out."

Let's go.  The only way to get attention is to form a group, raise some money and become a large blip on the political radar screen.  I say we taxi out to the runway and take off.

Doc Searls & Tom Poe Discover the secret plan of US Senator Harry Reid - The decoded message to netizens reads as follows "Thank you for giving us this beautiful land. Now shut up and go hide someplace that has no commercial value. And bury your dead while you're at it. They're starting to stink." Doc has more about the plans to put us all on a reservation.

Salon Blogs - Powered by Radio Userland - Congratulations to Dave, John & the Userland folks for joining forces with Salon to provide software for Salon Blogs.  Scott Rosenberg (Salon's Managing Editor) reports that "on Day One of Salon blogs, looks like about 75 people jumped in."  He also reported on an issue with Radio and Mac's that "denise" might check out: "[one fellow], just started up a Radio blog from his Mac, and noticed the pages loaded really slowly. This note from UserLand explains the problem -- it's an IE and Mac thing. Worth reading if you're blogging from an older Mac."

I've always like Salon, but had never signed up for the Premium service (only $30/year).  I will now.  I think it's great that they see the power of blogging, and of course the super-power of blogging with Userland's product.
